About Our Firm
Over 100 years ago, Edwin Ashcraft and his sons opened a small law firm in Chicago. Their purpose was to apply logic and law, common sense and compassion in their representation of family businesses and individuals.
Today, Ashcraft is still in Chicago, in offices overlooking Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. We remain a streamlined and focused practice, committed to the principles established by the Ashcrafts, providing our clients with a wide range of legal services.
We often act as general counsel to family businesses, working with clients and their advisors to understand and help define goals, so that we can provide the best advice and take the best steps to achieve them.
By being closely involved, we can identify opportunities and anticipate problems, prepare for and initiate protective actions both for a business and the family who owns it, from the eldest shareholder to the youngest child. As needed, we provide referrals to attorneys with specialized expertise in other practice areas, and coordinate all efforts.
In addition, we work for individuals, concentrating on estate and trust planning and administration, real estate, and elder law and guardianship.
In all cases, we believe strong relationships and good communication are essential for achieving the most beneficial and satisfying results.
